Bananaworks was a finalist in the Business Excellence Category at the third Cathay Pacific New Zealand China Trade Association Excellence Business Awards in June. It was the first time that Bananaworks entered this competition. A glorious event at which more than 300 business professionals at SKYCITY Convention Centre celebrated, dined and networked.

Bananaworks proudly sponsored the fourth Going Bananas International Conference (Rising Dragons, Soaring Bananas www.goingbananas.org.nz ) held over 18 and 19 July at The University of Auckland Business School. Organised by the New Zealand Chinese Association Auckland and the International Society for the Studies of Chinese Overseas (ISSCO), over 300 delegates attended to hear and celebrate the journeys, stories and identities of leading Chinese personalities in New Zealand and overseas.

The official launch of CINEMA ASIA organised by Bananaworks took place on 23 June at SKYCITY Gold Glass Cinemas on Queen Street. High profile guests, including Ms Liao, the General Consul of China, Bob Harvey, Mayor of Waitakere City and Jane Hastings, GM SKYCITY Cinemas, enjoyed a private preview screening of Forever Enthralled and celebrated at a cocktail reception. Bananaworks is working alongside SKYCITY Cinemas to market of CINEMA ASIA to Asian communities throughout Auckland.

Staff changes notice: Woosik Chung has joined our Wellington office as Media and Accounts Manager to replace Jin Chung; Public relations expert Alistair Kwun now leads Bananaworks’ strategy & public relations activities as Communications Director based in Auckland.

Asian Communications Media House will organise its biggest cultural events which include the Miss Chinese NZ Pageant (26 September 2009) and the Mid-Autumn Festival (27 September 2009), both will be held at TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre. Detailed information is now available by request.

Independence Day on 15th August, Vision Asia will be running special promotion; we also would be circulating free Programme Magazine of Vision Asia to our potential customers. Our subscribers will be sent the magazines in the first week of August.

Miss India NZ Contest on 29th August.

19th September: Navratri festival (Mahatma Gandhi Hall).Navratri is a festival for 9 days which is highly popular, where Indians dress up in beautiful colourful outfits and perform dance (Folk dance).

The 7th Migrant Expo 2009 is to be held in four main centres around New Zealand (Auckland, Christchurch, Hamilton and Wellington) between June and September. Migrant Expo will include an Ethnic Job Fair as well as employment, immigration, health and business displays and stalls. Entry is open to public with free of charge.

The Day of Korea in the world Festival - 3rd of October. It has been 3rd in 2009 The day of Korea in the worldthat the biggest annual event of Christchuch Korean Association.

Ni Hao is a Chinese magazine published bi-monthly. Located in Wellington it has nation wide circulation and has a strong focus on the lifestyle and tastes of those aged between 18-30.

Wellington based Home Voice, whose circulation covers the lower North Island, has expanded to include Rotorua.

Fortune News, a new Chinese newspaper, is now in circulation. Published every Friday with a circulation of 20,000 it has nationwide reach. Nine issues have been published up to now.
