Tens of thousand people turned up at Aotea Square on 8th and 9th October 2011, celebrating Diwali Festival, the 10th official celebration in Auckland.

The event was high lighted with Indian music, dance, bright colours, sizzling foods and fire works.

Diwali, one of India's best-loved celebrations, is an ancient Hindu festival that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and the renewal of life.
Indian community makes up the 2nd largest Asian population in New Zealand.
